Crime fiction fans won't want to miss this fascinating event with Suffolk-based author Ruth Dugdall, whose acclaimed Cate Austin series has recently been reissued for a new generation of readers.

Set largely in Suffolk and across East Anglia, the novels follow Cate Austin, a probation officer whose work places her at the heart of complex and compelling criminal cases. Drawing on her own professional background in prisons and probation, Ruth brings an authenticity and insider perspective that sets her crime writing apart.

Join Ruth in conversation with Elspeth Latimer as they explore the real-life experiences that inspire her fiction, the unique appeal of crime writing rooted in East Anglia, and the enduring popularity of the Cate Austin books. They'll also discuss Ruth's journey from studying for a Master's degree in Social Work & Probation at UEA to becoming a bestselling crime author.

Expect intriguing insights into the criminal justice system, the relationship between fact and fiction, and why East Anglia provides such a rich backdrop for crime stories.

This event will be followed by bookselling and a book signing with the author and the host.
