Four Horizons: John Berger’s Pilgrimage to Ronchamp

Join John Christie, artist, publisher, and close friend to John Berger, as he recounts the tale of their pilgrimage to Ronchamp.

In 2009 John Berger visited Le Corbusier’s world-famous pilgrimage chapel at Ronchamp in eastern France. His companions on the journey were Sister Lucia and Sister Telchilde, two Benedictine nuns from Connecticut, and his friend John Christie. Their visit together was a kind of pilgrimage, both spiritual and architectural, and transcripts of their group conversations and reactions, recorded by John Christie at the chapel, form the greater part of ‘Four Horizons’, the recently published book by Objectif celebrating both the visit to Ronchamp and John Berger’s Centenary.

The event will be followed by book sales and a signing with the author.

John Christie

John Christie is an artist and publisher who collaborated with John Berger on a number of film and book projects over their 40-year friendship. These include Another Way of Telling a series of four films he directed and photographed for BBC TV (1988) and Pages of the Wound (1994) John Berger’s book of collected poems, drawings and photographs. Together they co-wrote two books of correspondence I Send You This Cadmium Red (2000) and Lapwing and Fox (2016). John Christie lives and works in Suffolk in the East of England.
