The bestselling historian on his latest book, Lower than the Angels.

Few matters produce more public interest and public anxiety than sex and religion. Revolutions in attitudes in the last generations have brought liberation to some, fear and fury to others.

This October, join us as we welcome bestselling historian Diarmaid MacCulloch to Norwich for a compelling exploration of one of the most controversial topics in history.

Celebrating his much-anticipated new book, Lower than the Angels: A History of Sex and Christianity, Diarmaid MacCulloch delves into a 3,000-year-long history of Christians encountering sex, gender and family, from the Bible to the present day.

This event will be chaired by the Dean of Norwich, the Very Reverend Dr Andrew Braddock.

Don’t miss MacCulloch’s fascinating insight and knowledge of a subject that has challenged the church for three millennia- and continues to do so today.

Tickets £16

The Bible observes that God made humanity ‘for a little while lower than the angels’. If humans are that close to angels, where lies the difference? Is it human sexuality and what we do with it?
